Wish You Were Here


To celebrate the 2008 National Year of Reading, ACWE and Manchester Libraries approached 21 of our favourite Manchester-linked celebrities and asked them to write a postcard from a favourite book.

Enter the Wish You Were Here competition

Postcards competition Send us a postcard from your favourite book and you could see your postcard in print as part of the series! Winners will receive 100 copies of their own postcard and a full set of the celebrity cards. Winners cards will also appear on the ACWE website.

Competition winners will be announced in May, 2010 and the winning postcards will appear on the ACWE website. Winners will also receive 100 postcards of their own entry and a full set of printed celebrity postcards.

There are three competition categories: Primary-age, Secondary-age and FE/Adult. Entry is free and the deadline is March 31st, 2010.

Ideas for Teachers / Librarians / Reading or Writing Groups.

We hope that people will use the postcards to encourage creative reading and writing by creating displays and by encouraging readers of all ages to write their own. These can be used as posters or as workshop materials – blank versions have been used by teachers and librarians in a number of ways.
