IDEA

IDEA – Initiatives & Developments: External Activities – aims to foster third-stream activities in the Faculty of Humanities, Law and Social Science.

We are keen to reach out to professionals, to businesses, to public- and third-sector organisations and to communities around the North West to make our expertise available to all who might benefit from it.

IDEA

  • discusses project ideas with interested individuals from external companies, organisations or institutions or MMU staff interested in developing areas of interest and expertise with an external focus.
  • runs “roadshows” for Departments within the Faculty of Humanities, Law & Social Science and Faculty-based Research Institutes, with subject-based workshops, exploring possible third-stream projects.

IDEA also offers practical guidance to MMU staff on:

  • feasibility studies for emerging projects (seed corn funding can be provided for this to Faculty staff)
  • costing proposals and developing bids for funding
  • creation of accredited Courses for Professional Development (CPD) and building Outreach programmes
IDEA aims to encourage departmental participation in third-stream work- and collaboration between - departments and across faculties within the university. We are keen to share information about projects, potential partners and funding streams.

Non-MMU staff should contact any member of the IDEA team for further information.

Further information about IDEA's work, including information on partners and budgets, discussion papers about current funding initiatives and accounts of projects currently underway, in development or currently being considered for funding are available to MMU staff.
