Kaye Tew
Faculty Outreach Co-ordinator

E-mail: k.tew@mmu.ac.uk
Following five years working as an Assistant Producer for MET, Kaye set up the Association for Creative Writing and English (ACWE) in 2005 as a hub for outreach work in the English Department. ACWE provides a programme of activities focusing on creative writing for pupils aged 14-19 years and runs Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for teachers and writers. ACWE members number over 350 individuals from 140+ schools and colleges across the North West and representatives from 12 LEAs. Many of these teachers and LEA advisors have attended masterclasses and CPD courses at MMU as a result of this contact and strong relationships have been forged.
Kaye is very keen to work with other departments in the Faculty and to use the English model and ACWE contacts to develop co-ordinated approaches to outreach work, including CPD courses for teachers and other professionals. She is also currently working on the Manchester Childrens Book Festival.
