Why study Italian at MMU?

There are many excellent reasons to study Italian at MMU, including:

  • You can study Italian as a beginner and can choose from a variety of programmes which allow you to combine Italian with another language or with another subject

What you learn

Your study of the language is a central part of the programme. At every level of your studies, practical language classes reinforce your knowledge of the Italian language and develop the linguistic skills necessary to succeed. As well as your study of the language, we also aim to provide you with a varied programme that offers a choice of subjects related to Italian. The language teaching is also supported by computer assisted languages learning (CALL) facilities and by WebCT.

How you learn

You will be taught in formal lectures and in informal language seminars, by competent staff often flanked by lectors, assistants and students from our partner universities in Italy. Outside the lecture and seminar rooms, you are encouraged to make use of our state-of-the-art language learning facilities such as the digital laboratories and of the University's virtual learning environment, WebCT. Full guidance is provided for the use of these virtual learning environments.
